Setting up a Printer on a CNC Computer
If you already know how to set up printers, skip to step 5 for the list of labs and their respective printers. Images in these instructions can be enlarged by clicking on the images.
Step 1:
Go to start, then click on "Printers and Faxes". A window should open up similar to
below but with different printers listed.
|
|
Step 2:
Next, right click and choose "Add Printer" from the menu that appears.
|
Step 3:
The following window appears. Click next.
|

|
Step 4:
Select select "Network Printer or a printer attached to another computer"
option, then
click the "next" button.
|

|
Step 5:
Click on the "Connect to this printer (or to Browse, select this option then next)". The
text box should turn white immediately below the option line.
|

|
|
In the white text box, enter the correct printer as specified in the chart below:
|
|
In this example, we will type "\\IN-ENGR-PS1\ET326p1" because it is on one of ET326's
computers. Finally, click next to move to the next window.
|
| Room | Printer Name |
| ET204 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\et204p1 |
| ET205 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\et205p1 |
| ET208 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\et208p1 |
| ET216 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\et216p1 |
| ET220 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\et220p1 |
| ET224 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\et224p1 |
| ET326 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\ET326p1 |
| ET327 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\ET327p2 |
| ET329 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\ET329p1 |
| ET331 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\ET331p1 |
| SL012 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\SL012p1 |
| SL211 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\SL211p1 |
| SL223 | \\IN-ENGR-PS1\SL223p1 |
|
Step 6:
The following window appears. Select this printer as the default printer, then click on
the "next" button.
|

|
Step 7:
The following window appears. Double check this window with the information you just typed
in a previous text box - Does the room list the correct room you are in? Does the location
say this is the default printer? The image below shows the correct information for ET326.
|

|
Step 8:
Click finish if the information is correct to complete this process. If the
information is not correct, press the "back" button a few times to return to step 5 to
re-enter the correct information and proceed from that step.
|
Step 9:
Finally, check to make sure the printer was added to your computer and it is the default printer.
|

|
In the above image, you can see that the printer was added, and the black circle with white checkmark
indicates the printer is the default printer. Remember that this example uses ET326's printer and that
your printer will reflect the name that you setup for your room. If the black circle with white checkmark
is not present, right click the printer then click on "make default printer". The black circle with
white checkmark should now be on your newly installed printer.
