Current Operational Applications
Contains live teaching schedule and enrollment data for each semester,
including course number, course title, section number, date, time, room,
instructor, credit hours, enrollment, etc. Starting from Spring 2006, the
teaching schedules are retrieved and updated from SIS database on a daily
basis. Department secretaries are responsible for 1) verifying this information
and correct any mistakes with Registrar's Office, 2)maintain
FTE information. Sub-modules include Faculty Teaching Schedules, FTE
Information and Teaching Schedule Reports.
Manages faculty/staff information, including contact information, job title,
education, expertise, important dates, working status, etc. The full time
faculty/staff database is maintained by the school's Human Resource Coordinator
and the part time faculty database is maintained by department secretaries. The
database serves as a repository providing faculty/staff information to other
applications such as Student Course
Evaluations, Electronical
Faculty Annual Summary Report,
Teaching Schedule Information,
Committee Information Management, etc.
A comprehensive student information tracking system maintained by the recorders
office. It has four components - Transfers and Re-admits & New-admits,
Graduation Information, Probation Information, Prospective students and Awards
Information. Many crucial school activities such as Commencement, Awards and
Honors are based on information from this database.
A web application allowing faculty members to submit annual summary reports
online. Faculty members can edit and view currents reports, or import reports
from the previous year. Department chairs can add reviews to their faculty
members once the reports are submitted. School administrators can view reports
for all faculty members. CNC also hosts this service for Herron School of Art,
School of Social Work, School of Informatics, School of Health and
Rehabilitation Sciences, Student Life and Diversity.
The online course evaluation system has removed paper format to evaluate
courses offered by School of Engineering and Technology. The evaluation is
completely anonymous. The system is usually open two weeks before the final
exam week. The school administrators can view grouped results any time from
the administrator's site. Results from previous semesters are also
available from the
administrator's site. Currently only Lecture courses are eligible for
evaluation, however, departments can request other types of courses to be
included before the system is turned on.
Students can vote for "Outstanding Faculty" from the evaluation site.
Hosting member information for school committees, such as Budgetary Affairs
Committee, Student Affairs Committee, Unit Promotion & Tenure Board,
Computing Resources Committee, ect. Information includes descriptions of
membership, terms, duties and members who have served or are serving on the
committees. The web site provides tools for the nomination committee to
nominate candidates and for faculty memebers to vote for committee members.
An in-house intentory tracking and control system for maintaining computing
resources owned by the school, such as desktop computers, laptops, printers,
software, ect. It provides the whole life cycle management to resources from
purchase date to salvage date. Information includes the hardware configuration
and the services applied to the machines, and about software such as name, type
and the rooms where it is installed . The reporting tool provides maintenance
records to CNC managers.
An internet-based job application system for recruiting faculty members in the
School of Engineering and Technology. The system provides an easy and friendly
interface for users to enter contact information and upload application
documents. The applications are grouped in a structured way in a centralized
information pool, where the Search and Screen Committees can retrieve and
review applications.
